Soldier Take Warning

The Soldier Take Warning by Salvador Dali

Salvador Dali made 'Soldier Take Warning' painting in 1942 to warn soldiers against venereal diseases during the second world war (World War II).

At first glance, the painting looks as if there is a soldier in the forefront looking back at two women. If you give the painting a closer look tho, it is apparent that the women are supposed to symbolize a skull. The painting was designed to warn soldiers about the possibility of contracting STDs.

BTW, at present it is in St Petersburg, Florida in the Salvador Dali Museum.

This is an animation of a rotating (anti-clock wise) hollow mask. At the moment you see the back of this hollow mask (so that the hollow side is pointing to you) something surprising happens. It doesn't look hollow, rather it looks like a normal mask - rotating the other way (clock wise)!

The most probable reason is that our vision doesn't accept hollow faces (?).
